Elijah McCurdy, Sr. was assistant Marshall of the Ninety-sixth District of Abbeville, South Carolina ( 1790 Census ). He is mentioned as the Elijah who went south in the book " The Ancestral McCurdys ".

Elijah McCurdy, Sr. was born in 1760 in Chester County, Pennsylvannia. He was the oldest child of Lt. John McCurdy and Mary Fox. He is mentioned as the Elijah who went south and was lost in the book
" The Ancestral McCurdys" by H. Percy Blanchard.
He married Ann Handy Harris, the daughter of Reverend John Harris and Mary Handy. Elijah was the Assistant Marshall of the Ninety Sixth District as stated on the 1790 Abbeville, South Carolina Census. He died in the year 1800 at around 40 years of age, leaving Ann Handy Harris McCurdy a widow with eight
children. He is buried in or near Abbeville, South Carolina. His signature can be found on page # 359
of The McCurdy Family, Early Settlers of DeKalb County, Alabama.
